When Dave started an engineering company…
The Flex Partners, Inc. story began in 1995, when Dave Matsuura started an independent research and development engineering company to help his friends with a couple of startups. The company was known as DMA (Dave Matsuura & Associates).
For three years, Dave ran a full-service engineering company out of a four car garage in the Matsuura family home. The intent was to provide engineering services and seed capital to new companies. DMA acted as a virtual engineering department for several startups. These newly formed companies could leverage DMA’s engineering group, lab space, fabrication equipment, and prototyping capabilities. As the company expanded, Dave recruited talented and competent staff members.
In 1998, DMA moved into a small industrial space, located in Escondido, California, to accommodate the personnel growth to five employees. In 1999, Flex Partners, Inc. as we know it today was incorporated.
Three years later (2002), Flex moved to Encinitas, California, increasing their footprint and growing their staff to fifteen. Flex continued to thrive in this space through economic uptrends and downtrends. In 2016, Flex moved to Solana Beach, California, seeking additional lab and office space for its growing business. This is where you will find Flex Partners, Inc. today, providing the same research and development engineering services.
